BiShares Finance AMA Recap

This post recaps the AMA with DeFi Vlad, Co-Founder of BiShares Finance that took place on the Mogul Official Discord Server on Wednesday, December 8th.

Intro: I know some of the community have already met you last night through Twitter Spaces, but for those who haven’t, it would be great if you could introduce yourselves and tell the community a bit about what you do at BiShares.

Defi Vlad: Yeah sure. I’m one of the co-founders of BiShares.finance a decentralized index fund-based platform. I and a few guys came up with the concept of creating index funds on the Binance Chain and since I have taken on the role of being the public face of BiShares

Well, my voice and avatars anyways.

Behind the scenes, I help design the concepts for new products, work with partner projects and just do whatever I can to help push the project forward.

Q1: That’s awesome! Being the voice and avatar of BiShares sounds fun. I’m sure some people are wondering what decentralized index funds are, can you tell us more about it?

DeFi Vlad: Haha right. BiShares is a platform for decentralized Exchange Traded Funds or dETFs for short. ETFs are a popular way to diversify in a basket of assets. BiShares does this but with crypto and in a decentralized way.

The project’s goal is to be a safe haven for diversification with variable risk exposure funds suitable to different profiles, from conservative to profit maximalist. Our funds include entire market sectors and ecosystems such as DeFi, GameFi, NFTs, and others, without having to manage a ton of tokens individually. We believe that as a community we can build dETF products that will track sector growth better than the avg individual would on their own.

Q2: Gotcha! Recently, BiShares announced the partnership with the Blockchain Metaverse Alliance that consists of Mogul, NFTY Labs, CEEk, and Oasis. What’s the goal of that partnerships?

DeFi Vlad: Yeah, great question

We are big fans of the metaverse… I guess everyone in crypto is. And we were looking for ways to help the sector in our own way.

BiShares as a protocol is built around helping liquidity for projects so we decided to build out a metaverse fund using LP tokens from projects we felt were the most promising such as STARS and CEEK and the rest of the Metaverse alliance

This way, (we) are able to help projects get more exposure to more communities, make it easier to invest in the whole alliance in one click, and help build LP liquidity for those projects while users earn yield the whole way

Q3: When I saw the announcement, it felt like watching the Avenger assemble scene haha

Aside from the Blockchain Metaverse Alliance, are there any partnerships in the works?

DeFi Vlad: Yes…We are always on the lookout for new partners. BiShares works best the more partners we get involved so we are always looking for partners we can help out with.

I noticed our biz dev @eznika here with me…he may chime in on some of these questions

Speaking of partnerships, we are gearing up for expansion to a new chain so there will be some partners to announce for sure

Q4: I’m excited to see what’s coming. Let’s move on to the next question, what other opportunities can we expect to see between Mogul and BiShares?

DeFi Vlad: We are constantly building new products which help support the ecosystem and we do have some more tricks up our sleeve.

Just not ready to announce the details yet…since everyone always starts asking WEN DEV

Q5: Now that we’re talking about new products, what other products is BiShares building on the roadmap? Something that you can share a little insight on what’s coming.

Eznika: For sure! So currently we have 2 main types of products: dETFs – decentralized Exchange Traded Funds, which contain a set of underlying tokens which give exposure to many tokens at the same time. As Vlad stated

The other product is YBF – Yield Bearing Funds (which on the FTM side we call Multi Farms). These consist of an auto-compounding token that gets the yield from multiple underlying farms at the same time. STARS is featured in the Metaverse Fund along with the other tokens mentioned before and BISON, which is BiShares native token. We also have stables YBF for example, which only farm stable coins so there’s no IL for those who may be faint of heart of it.

We will keep building YBF/MF – of course – but we are also working on a little surprise which will be released on Cronos chain, I can’t share much -yet- or Vlad will get mad at me. We really like surprises and the project is still young, we try to explore and innovate with products for our users

Q6 (@Sol): What are your criteria for selecting assets for the funds and what if the role of your token

Eznika: Great question! We pick assets and group them based on the sectors they belong to. So for example we have a fund that gives exposure to major coins like BTC, ETH, FTM, BNB, AVAX, etc. We do as well have a fund for GameFi tokens and big projects like AXS, Mobox, or Skill among others are included. We basically build funds according to sector and pick coins/tokens which would be suitable. So we take many profiles into consideration and based on their risk appetite

BISON is the governance token of BiShares which grants voting rights for protocol proposals. BISON can be staked to earn platform fees which are redistributed to stakers of it. We are currently working to grow the TVL of the platform which will result in more platform fees and more rewards for users. It’s important to point out that BISON is included in every fund and YBF/MF and that its a way to contribute to shaping the future of BiShares once the DAO is implemented

Q7 (@Sol): Are you positioning yourself for traditional and more conservative investors

We would definitely love to have traditional investors. Everyone has a spot at BiShares. For example, the CHAIN fund which I just mentioned is quite suitable for conservative profiles since it diversifies in top market cap projects like BTC, ETH, and BNB to name a few. There are many possibilities in fact and we build our funds trying to include every investor profile

Q8 (@Barcell1): Does BiShare have some hedge fund product with BTC? Like to when BTC crashes people at least in that fund could have some protection

DefiVlad: Working on something like this

Q9 (@Sol) — Today at 13:35

Will you be working to offer or be part of traditional retirement (401-k) type services

Eznika: Another great question! It would definitely be a great thing but crypto are still a new thing for most people. Not saying it’s not possible but as of now we believe the crypto market still has to mature and it will be some years before those types of funds are seen

Q10 (@Satm8una): Which metaverse platforms would you prefer to connect with?

Eznika: Projects included in the Metaverse fund are all great partners and very promising projects! We are very open to proposals from projects and always happy to talk

Q11: If there are no more questions, I’d like to thank @DeFiVlad and @eznika for doing this AMA. Can you please share your social platforms so the community can follow you guys?

Eznika: Sure! that would be great

Beefy Finance AMA Recap

This post recaps the AMA with Beefy Finance Strategy Leader and Developer, Weso that took place on the Mogul Official Discord Server on Monday, December 6th.

Can you please introduce yourself and what you do with Beefy Finance 😁

Weso: Sure thing

I am the Strategic Partnership leader currently at Beefy Finance. I have been a developer at Beefy since a few months after launch and now am helping further expand our partnership network.

Question 1: What does partnering with Beefy help projects like Mogul to do?

Weso: Beefy Finance is at its core a multichain yield optimizer. We have over $1.2B TVL across 10 blockchains with over 700 vaults. We give users the ability to gain compound interest in their assets by farming for them and harvesting their farm rewards for more of their deposited assets. So that means when you deposit STARS-BNB LP on Beefy you will get more STARS-BNB taking advantage of the exponential nature of compounding. Since we have such a diverse user base, this brings a lot of reach to new projects. Beefy also drives liquidity by increasing the farm TVL.

Question 2: Two weeks ago, Mogul and Beefy announced the boosted APY, can you tell us more about that. There are a lot of new people here on the server so it’ll be great if you explain a little bit about it.

Weso: As part of our partnership with Mogul we were able to boost our STARS-BNB LP Vault. So not only are you earning your compounded return on STARS-BNB, you can choose to boost your vault and earn more STARS. The boost is a great mechanism for exposure. We have around 143,000 users on BSC alone. We have great participation with our boosted vaults and gives us a great opportunity for co-marketing.

Question 3: Now that we’re talking about great opportunities, what other opportunities can we expect to see between Mogul and Beefy?

Weso: I think the opportunity for partnership is multi-faceted. We both have unique user bases that we can really engage within our marketing efforts. Innovation in the NFT space is happening rapidly, there might be some unique and fun initiatives that we can tailor around NFTs. We also have multiple products that have been created or are in the process of being created under the Beefy umbrella-like Moonpots that have potential partnership opportunities. There is definitely some synergy we can tap into between the two projects in the coming months.

Question 4: There are many great things about Beefy Finance, can you please tell us how does Beefy differs from Alpaca?

Weso: Sure, Alpaca is leveraged yield farming. This is a different take on yield optimization, obviously slightly riskier, and usually caters to different users.  Beefy has more breadth of vaults, so we work a lot on the different partnership opportunities in the different ecosystems. Partnering with Beefy means that you made it through our contract auditing process and you meet our safety criteria.

Question 5: @buzzmogie wants to know about Moonpots. So my next question is what other products is Beefy building on the roadmap? Can you give us some information about it without getting in trouble haha

Weso: Sure thing haha

Moonpots is live right now. It’s a win-win lottery. It works like this. Users stake their assets on Moonpots, Moonpots stakes them on Beefy and the user earns 50% of the APY they would normally. The other 50% goes into a prize pool and once every two weeks 5 winners split the pot. Moonpots just launch NFT pots and some other fun games as well.

On the roadmap for Beefy, moooore blockchains. You will continue to see us expanding to more blockchains in the very near future. We also have Beefy Grants, which is a $1M builder initiative. We are currently and will continue to fund new products built on top of Beefy, also mentor them and help them launch. We have a few that already received grant approvals and are building as we speak. Lastly, you can expect Beefy Avatars, our first NFT launch.

Question 6 (Bustin Jieber): Can you think of some concrete examples of Mogul and Beefy cooperation in the future?

Weso: At bare minimum co-marketing. We can help with product launches for Mogul and would like to be able to market Beefy as a brand to Mogul stakeholders.

Question 7: How can people apply for the Beefy Grant? What’s the process like?

Weso: We have our forum in the footer on the Beefy app. Anyone can write up their proposal and come have an active conversation around it in our community. Once the details get ironed out, they will be submitted for a snapshot vote for funding.

Question 8 (MageFrost): Hacks are occurring more frequently and many yield optimization platforms have been hacked. What is Beefy Finance’s approach to this hacking risk and what insurance policies are in place?

Weso: Hacks occur for a multitude of reasons. We are security-focused and try to decentralize Beefy as much as we can. Our vault and strategy contracts are owned by timelock, the timelock is owned by 3 signers 5 people multi-sig. This eliminates the centralization control risk if let’s say private keys are stolen. We also don’t rely on any oracles so nothing at a price level can be manipulated. In addition, we have a partnership with InsurAce that will allow you to insure your assets in Beefy vaults across multiple blockchains. We have Certik audits and an immunefi bounty. We also do loads of due diligence checks on the underlying platforms we vault. We have all our safety standards detailed out in our docs.

Question 9 (BeefyCow): What awesome movie would you have starred in if had the chance?

Weso: Goodfellas

Question 10 (MageFrost): What do you think is a feature in the Traditional Finance world that has not been properly built out yet in the Defi world?

Weso: I think options and futures markets are still young. We see some opportunities available for these on ETH but they will really open the door to securing a portfolio through hedging.

Question 11 (Sol): I love the moonpots approach; what has been the feedback so far?

Weso:Moonpots has done well so far, there was a lot of excitement at launch. Each week there are new POTS available, I think the NFT pots have delivered nice engagement recently. Moonpots will be multichain as well, so that’s when we will really see fun products.

Question 12 (Buzzmogie): how do u become eligible for a grant?

Weso: Anyone is eligible, you just need to post and discuss the idea in our forum. If it improves the Beefy Ecosystem I am sure the community would love it.

Question 13: Thank you so much, Weso! It was great doing this AMA with you 🌟

Weso: Can you please share yours and Beefy’s social links so the community can follow you guys and get updated with all the latest news about Beefy 🐮

The Ultimate Guide for First-Time NFT Buyers

NFTs have been dominating the news lately. Recent articles have talked about digital art being sold for millions of dollars, and sportsmen selling unique digital versions of their best plays. For the uninitiated, all of this sounds quite confusing. Before starting to browse through the NFT market, though, it’s important to review the basics especially if you’re new to this strangely, engaging marketplace.

The basic concept behind NFTs

In order to understand NFTs, first we have to learn what a blockchain is. Blockchains house blocks, or sets of information with limited storage, kept through a network of computers. When that limit is reached, the block closes-up and establishes a link with the block that came before it. As a result, each block contains information regarding its place in the chain. Therefore, if someone tries to alter or delete data, the network would detect this change immediately. This makes it one of the most secure methods to store information.

Blockchains are usually employed to store transaction data. This process creates assets that are identical to each other, known as fungible tokens. Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum are good examples. Non-fungible tokens or NFTs, on the other hand, possess unique identification data. This uniqueness is what makes NFTs so useful. When an NFT is paired with a real world possession, for example, it becomes an extremely safe way to prove its ownership.

The potential of NFTs

The advantage of blockchain technology is that it offers an almost hacker-proof method of storing information. Companies have invested in blockchain technology to store data about their supply chain, and verify contracts. Moreover, governments can use it as a way to safely store sensible information, like migration and voting records. In contrast, NFTs are being used in a series of innovative endeavors, like creating unique pieces of digital art or adding value to game-based virtual economies. This technology, for example, can allow movie production to decentralize. Rather than being financed by a single studio, a community of fans can purchase NFTs to amass the necessary funds. Furthermore, blockchain technology is being used to securely vote on which story should move into production, making the process much more trustworthy and transparent.

How to start buying NFTs

In order to purchase cryptocurrency and NFTs you need a private key and a crypto wallet, which are used to prove ownership and securely store keys respectively. Once a trustworthy wallet has been found, it’s necessary to connect it to a bank account or credit card. Afterwards, it’s just a matter of creating an account in an NFT marketplace. There are many popular marketplaces but it’s important to remember that NFT sellers can be as reliable as the ones on eBay, so it’s highly advisable to make a bit of research before buying anything.

Purchasing NFTs can be extremely profitable, but also risky. There are many self-proclaimed gurus offering dubious advice online, but it’s best to first consult with a true expert. An analyst with, at the very least, a bachelor’s degree in financial services can provide insightful advice regarding solid long-term investments. They can help first-time buyers understand the difference between a valuable NFT with a promising future, and a pump-and-dump scheme. And this is so important for first time buyers it cannot be understated. It can also mean the difference between selling a piece of digital art for multiple times its original price or losing thousands of dollars in a matter of days.

Understanding how blockchains work and where do cryptocurrency and NFTs come from is not easy. It requires understanding complex ideas about computer networks and filtering through questionable sources. Nevertheless, it’s a fascinating concept that has triggered a wave of innovation and, with the help of experts, can open the door for some profitable opportunities.

AMA with Mary Spio of Ceek Recap

This post recaps the AMA with CEEK CEO, Mary Spio that took place on the Mogul Official Discord Server on Monday, November 22nd.

It’s great to have you both here, it would be great if you could introduce yourself to anyone who’s unaware of what you do @Ceek (unlikely 🙂)

Mary Spio: Hi everyone, I am Mary Spio, CEO of CEEK. Consider myself a crypto OG. Love movies and the Metaverse

Jarred Winn: Hi all, Jarred Winn here! Advisor for CEEK and general crypto enthusiast ❤️

Question 1 (@Sol): What is the goal of the metaverse alliance? What is CEEK and Mogul’s role in the alliance? And who else is in this alliance?

Jarred Winn: The goal of the metaverse alliance is to create something of a coalition between projects who share a mutual interest in bringing blockchain technologies to the masses via metaverse technology. CEEK has vetted a number of core projects who we feel add value to the various verticals of the metaverse and has formed partnerships with them to ensure the best experience is provided to users who are exploring blockchain/metaverse projects, and essentially collaborating with them to bring great things only before imaginable to life.

Mogul brings great value to the bridged vision we see between film, celebrities, and metaverse. Together, we expect there will be a tremendous opportunity for both projects.

As of now, the other projects in the alliance are:

  • Mogul
  • ProjectOasis
  • NFTY
  • BiShares
  • and of course, CEEK

Question 2 (@Buzzmogie): What drew you to partner with Mogul, and what’s your general impression of the Mogies NFTs we’re launching in early 2022?

Mary Spio: I started with movies I developed the Digital Cinema technology used by Lucas Films 20th Century Fox etc while at Boeing Digital Cinema then drifted to music sports etc but I love movies especially 3D movies. I love everything that Mogul doing. It’s so awesome and in alignment with my passions and experience.

Love the Mogies and can’t wait to get my hands on them

Question 3 (MageFrost): I read that “CEEK’s custom-built NFT marketplace is being built on the highly efficient Devv.io blockchain,  to allow users to transact their NFTs with negligible transaction fees.” Can you tell us more about this blockchain? Have not heard of them before. Is the CEEK’s NFT marketplace on Devv.io already live?

Mary Spio: They are a new partner we’re exploring. We are looking at other NFT partners as well. The CEEK NFT marketplace will enable Venues to be own and earn rewards, buy exclusive celebrity virtual merch from T-Shirts to one-of-a-kind experiences, even own music rights.

Avatar clothes, art, and much more

Question 4 (@Nathan⭐): Was there something about Devv.io that made you pick them over existing players in the space for the blockchain?

Mary Spio: We liked their emphasis on the environment. But it’s not just Devv.io we have others we are exploring as well. I have a feeling a major announcement will be coming soon.

Question 5 (@maroosh): When can we expect to see a Mogul theatre in the CEEK metaverse?

Jarred Winn: The theatre itself is nearing completion, and I know that teams are in active discussions on the best way to kick off this theatre with the biggest bang. I know it’s a high priority for both teams, so I’d expect this no later than Q1 2022. 🙂 Maybe we’ll have our next AMA there!

Question 6 (Buzzmogie): What major lessons have you learned about working and marketing with celebrities?

Mary Spio: You have to build a great product and that it’s a very small world. Treat everyone well. I remember having a meeting about the artist Halsey this was before she became the superstar she is today.  A lot of our work expands through word of mouth. One great experience leads to another. We really get to know the artist and look at this as an opportunity for them to connect with their fans in a unique way and so far the fans have. Many people in the group today came from the various releases. I’m sure they can share they’re Lady Gaga fans etc.

Question 7 (@MageFrost): What is CEEK VR’s secret to being able to score so amazing interviews with music celebrities?

Jarred Winn: CEEK’s secret is clearly Mary Spio.

Mary Spio: Our secret has been creating value and putting artists first. Our work has contributed to Grammys, sales, etc we’ve paid out millions, so the work speaks for itself.

Help artists save time and make money.

And we’re letting the CEEK tech help them do that with the upcoming creator dashboard to have full control and flexibility over their virtual worlds.

Question 8 (@BuzzMogie): How is the CEEK token used in your product currently and what is the plan for the future?

Mary Spio: Currently we use it to track usage and smart contracts for automatic payments once usage has been verified. Artists will tell you payments are super slow, but smart contracts enable faster payments.

And the biggest problem in the industry is a lack of transparency. Most of them cant tell you how streaming services pay or not pay them. Having a transparent ledger is super important. In the near future NFTs, even music rights can be tracked and allow artists to open their music to the world.

Question 9 (@Nathan⭐): Artists who don’t have expensive legal teams to back them up would love this, I have no doubt.

Mary Spio: Exactly. Most global artists are not in restricting contracts. They’ve built their fanbase on their own and have more control to monetize and benefit their work in interesting ways.

They’re also the ones that have the biggest need for transparency since the traditional systems are not fair at all to them.

Question 10 (@Naj): Are you planning to bring Lady Gaga to the CEEK Metaverse?

Jarred Winn: Her exclusive content is already there… but as for her virtual entity… we can only hope! 😄

Question 11 (@MageFrost): Can you also detail what value each of the member projects of the Metaverse alliance has?

  • ProjectOasis
  • NFTY
  • BiShares

Jarred Winn: Sure! Some quick notes:

ProjectOasis – Accessible VR/AR gaming within a metaverse. This is still being fully baked, but the opportunities are really wide, so the hardest part is finding out what we do first!

NFTY – NFT Gateways to add more immediate utility to NFTs either purchased within or used for access to a metaverse.

BiShares – Accessible & safer participation with metaverse projects for those who want to just own one metaverse token with auto-farms and produces yields versus running the risk of an imbalanced portfolio

Question 12 (absarikaya1): Will a new exchange listing be coming soon for the CEEK VR token?

Jarred Winn: Yes

Question 13 (@fsowemim): Other than Apple, Microsoft, Google, and Meta/Oculus are there any major mainstream Silicon Valley companies you are in talks with regarding partnering with Ceek’s Metaverse?

Mary Spio: There are many companies looking to work with CEEK. Our initial focus is to build these massive bridges that can bring millions even billions of people to the Metaverse and crypto – the virtual web really. So when it makes sense and aligns with our vision, we will definitely partner.

Question 14 (@MageFrost): Can you add more details around how exactly CEEK and Mogul partnership will leverage each other?

Jarred Winn: Definitely! Mogul has some of the deepest celebrity & film connections of any blockchain project.

CEEK, in my opinion, has the best and most dynamic metaverse platform in which content can be appreciated by all audiences.

In short, CEEK wants to partner with Mogul to be a platform of accessibility, where Mogul has such tremendous opportunities in front of them that will just make the CEEK metaverse even more highly demanded.

Question 14 (@fsowemim): How will staking with CEEK work? Any predictions on APY % or other rewards?

Will staking be on the whole Metaverse ecosystem or can we stake in particular venues and earn rewards on the success of the venue?

Jarred Winn: There are a couple of points to this question.

1. We’re exploring a native single stake to reward our HODL’rs, this is separate from anything else stake-related on CEEK and not concrete, yet.

2. We’re looking to enable staking opportunities on our various venues, in which stakers will receive a share of rewards for various events held on said metaverse. We’re exploring whether this staking will be done with divisible NFTs for said venues, CEEK tokens, or a combination of both.

3. APY’s will be competitive in a way that will add value to the CEEK token system while still incentivizing those who participate.

Question 15 (@Ever): Mary when could we use CEEK tokens to pay for headsets and 4D phones?

Mary Spio: Yes we will accept tokens for everything. Our goal is the same time as completing the BSC integration.

Question 16 (@tan): What is the end goal for you are Looked to get acquired at some point or stick with it for maybe going public?

Jarred Winn: I don’t see a CEEK without Mary or a Mary without CEEK… so whichever route is taken, I think this is the main consideration. Lol 🙂

Mary Spio: At this point, we are working with most of our potential acquirers, so will have to be very very compelling to do an acquisition. We can achieve a lot through partnerships. We are keeping all options open.

Question 17 (@Niceguy): Hello Mary, I would like to know who are Ceek’s backers. Can you give us some information about them?

Mary Spio: We have a lot of support from many of our partners. Facebook Oculus was the first to actually invest $$$

Question 18 (@Ever): Mary some Plans for headset version with controls for METAVERSE?

Mary Spio: We are on the Oculus platform, so that is one way that users can have an enhanced experience of CEEK if they want to controllers. Our aim with our headset is to be the gateway to the Metaverse.

Question 19 (@Sertaç): Hi Mary, Which is your favorite exchange? 🙂 Binance or Coinbase?

Mary Spio: Binance

AMA with Blackdove CEO Marc Billings Recap

This post will recap the AMA with Blackdove CEO Marc Billings that took place on the Mogul Official Discord Server on Monday, November 8th.

Question 1: Would be great if you could introduce yourself and Blackdove to the Mogul community?

Marc Billings: Thanks, Nathan. As you mention my name is Marc Billings, I am the founder and CEO of Blackdove.

It’s a pleasure to be here, I look forward to feedback, questions, and general discussion on anything NFT.

Question 2: Awesome, and for anyone who’s not aware, could you share a little about what Blackdove is working on?

Marc Billings: In the simplest form, we take any NFT and allow it to be displayed on any display in the world.

We have been spending the last few years figuring out how to make digital artists proud by showing their art on amazing screens!

Here’s a quick highlight video; https://vimeo.com/630546037

Question 3 (@Sol): Who are the artists you work with for the NFTs? How do you choose which to make? How do you set the price points for the NFTs?

Marc Billings: Great question, thank you.

Blackdove is expanding now to include independent curators who wish to represent and sell digital artists from around the globe.

Historically we have focused on very high-quality moving image artists that we feel our clients will enjoy.

Digital art is an amazing new medium that has true value in the world as a way to allow the voice of artists to be shared globally.

The average museum-goer looks at a still image painting for 4 seconds.

Our customers linger from 30seconds to 2minutes.

Moving image works, especially when completed with the seamlessly looping model that we require provides a very meditative and exploratory experience that is unequaled in the world.

Question 4 (@buzzmogie): How do the physical NFTs prove that they have digital authenticity within the physical display?

Marc Billings: Perhaps our most popular feature request actually…. 🙂     For Art Basel this year we will release a new feature that showcases if the on-screen work is ‘authentic’ from an ownership standpoint.

NFTs are the most powerful form of digital ownership the world has ever created.    They solve the biggest challenge that we had previously where customers felt that there was something missing after they purchased a digital artwork from us.

Question 5 (@MageFrost): Can you share how the NFT is authenticated?

Marc Billings: We have a set of NFT features in our web app that allow for a collector/owner of NFTs to pair their wallet. Once paired, we then scan and import the media files to their account.

In this model, only the NFT owner has access.

We do offer artists the ability to rent and earn royalties, so that is when it gets important to validate ownership.

Question 6 (@MageFrost): In the unfortunate incident where someone’s wallet is compromised and the NFT now sits in another wallet, then there is no remedy for that right?

Marc Billings: The stolen NFT is likely out of our hands unless the purchase was made via Blackdove and then we will step in.

Question 7 (@Sol): Can you explain the art rent?

Marc Billings: Our mission is to create a sustainable revenue model for artists which includes NFT sales, short-term licensing (currently 30 days), and subscription royalties.

Question 8 (@Sol): What is the story of your name?

Marc Billings: When we sat as a team together early, we were searching for a name rooted in history. Our co-founder Marisa referenced Greek history where Blackdove’s were considered the important messages versus white doves being regular messages when sent via carrier birds.

Question 9 (@MageFrost): What commercial clients have reached out to use your digital canvasses? Where can we expect to see Blackdoves’ digital canvases in public places?

Marc Billings: Oh, that is definitely happening.

Hotels are adopting digital canvas installations and we have been completing some amazing large-scale installations.

Actually, LG just announced they are bundling Blackdove with their large-scale LEDs for commercial installations.

Question 10 (@MageFrost): How are Blackdove’s canvasses different from an ultra-high def large TV (with access to a web3 page?) aligning to the LG info

Marc Billings: We worked with LG to develop the perfect combination of dependable technology and custom software integration.

So unlike traditional television, there are some very important features that are must have’s for digital art installations.

First, these displays are designed to hang in a portrait installation.   Consumer televisions will die out quickly due to the way in which heat gets dissipated from the electronics.

Our displays have local hard drives, so the art gets stored locally versus streaming.

Our software when loaded takes over the display, so it automatically boots into art on startup versus having to select an app on screen every time.

The displays are designed to run 24/7/365 for five years and come with a three-year warranty.

They are also about 2x as bright as a regular television which is key because they hang in more public spaces with more light.

These are indoors only, but we do have integration into an outdoor display setup also.

All of this gets managed through our mobile or web apps.

Question 11 (@Bemuri) How much do your displays cost?

Marc Billings: We are currently focused on large-scale displays (but our app is available on ALL televisions other than Roku.   AppleTV, Vizio, LG, Samsung Android, and Fire TV.  So anyone can download the app and start enjoying on your home television.

Which (drum roll please)  is why the Mogul partnership makes so much sense

Question 12 (@MageFrost): So I can already broadcast my NFTs to my SmartTV? I just need to find the Blackdove app?

Marc Billings: Quick steps;

1. download our mobile app

2. download the TV app

3. head to www.blackdove.com and pair your wallet.

Here is a quick link to the mobile app

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/blackdove-motion-art/id943637063

Question 13 (@Barcell1): How is the partnership with Mogul gonna work?

Marc Billings: Mogul is a great expansion for us, the first time we are exploring outside of purely digital art.  The NFTs purchased from Mogul will be preloaded onto Blackdove for an even better UX for you. We will be exploring new territory together.

Question 14 (@Bemuri): I was just wondering where you sell the most, Asia, North America, specific countries?

Marc Billings: 52 countries monthly right now.

Question 15 (@MageFrost): About displaying the NFT pieces, I am assuming your software has solved the problem of properly presenting the NFTs between landscape and portrait settings depending on the NFT automatically?

Marc Billings: Yes, for the most part.  We are still working on a new set of features to allow cropping and rotation for square NFTs.

Question 16 (@Bemuri): Can I buy blackdove stocks or tokens?

Marc Billings:  We are launching tokens on December 1st. Follow us on Twitter  https://twitter.com/blackdoveart

AMA with Comics and Crypto Recap

This post will recap the AMA with Crypto and Comics Founders Spencer Vogel and Sean O’Hare that took place on the Mogul Official Discord Server on Monday, October 18th.

Question 1: Such a cool podcast idea, got to have been a pretty big dream of yours? I’d imagine it’s come from hobby mostly?

Sean O’Hare: Definitely! I’ve been a collector my whole life and it was a special moment when NFTs finally started to click. Spencer introduced me to NFTs and crypto, and after a road trip to Yellowstone this August, Spencer, Kevin, and I decided to create a podcast that focuses on collecting in the digital space.

Spencer Vogel: I was a big collector when I was a kid, things like Yu-Gi-Oh cards, Pokemon cards, fossils. But then when I got into NFTs in 2018 it really sparked my interest in collecting again. Sean actually got me into investing in physical comics back in April!

Sean O’Hare: He’s been crushing it, I’m very proud of his collection haha.

People don’t realize how valuable Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon cards are worth today, it’s unreal, especially high graded cards

Question 2 (@Barcell1): What value do you see in NFT comics in the long term?

Spencer Vogel: There’s a lot of potential for indie comics. For example, the company I work for (Apollo NFT) manages the NFT career for legendary comic artist Jose Delbo. We’ve released original NFT comics with him, which go for thousands!

Sean O’Hare: I think licensed NFT comics have a ton of promise. Marvel has been releasing their NFTs on the platform VeVe and these drops have been selling out in less than 1 second, with bottom floor 2x ROI up to 1,000x ROI (sometimes even more). It’s incredible. People who were never collectors are now obsessed with comics. We have been contacted for advice about physical comics, just as much NFT comics. The world of collecting isn’t going in one direction or the other, it’s only expanding and we couldn’t be more excited!

The work Spencer is doing with Apollo and Jose Delbo is absolutely incredible.

Question 3 (@Sol): What is the perception of NFTs among traditional comic artists?

Spencer Vogel: I’d say that it’s been super positive! NFTs allow for new ways for comic artists to monetize their work. Unfortunately, they don’t receive royalties for the work they do with big companies like Marvel or DC. Through this Jose Delbo for example has probably made more money in the past year making NFT art than he did for most of his 6 decade career.

Question 4 (@juliab): What are your favorite NFT projects right now and why?

Sean O’Hare: Aside from Mogul?

I would say VeVe is probably one of my favorite projects right now. They are partnered with some of the biggest brands in the World including Marvel, DC, Givenchy, and indie artists like Frank Kozak, Ron English, and Jermaine Rodgers. Their NFTs are the first of their kind and also can be used in AR, which is incredible.

Spencer Vogel: Unrelated to comics but in the Avatar/PFP space I really like CryptoHobos! The art is generative but hand-drawn. I think they look incredible and are super unique from other PFPs. My PFP here is an example!

The Wax blockchain is also another great NFT ecosystem. Fee-less transaction and licensing with major brands like Garbage Pail Kids, Godzilla, StreetFighter, Atari, MLB, and more! Lots of awesome play-to-earn games as well like Alien Worlds

Sean O’Hare: Ethernity is another really cool project and they are creating some beautiful NFTs that are licensed with some of the biggest public figures in the World including Lionel Messi, Muhammed Ali, and Dak Prescott. They just released one with Shaq too. They also partnered with Terra Virtua so you can expect to see some cool VR / AR tech coming too.

Spencer Vogel: There are also a couple of indie comic projects on Wax!

Sean O’Hare: Can’t wait for Mogul Mogies! I think the Avatar/PFP projects like these have been great for the space and have brought many newcomers in the past few months. People see them as a status symbol and base their entire online personas on them

Question 5 (MageFrost): Comics collectors used to collect the physical comic version. What do you think will happen when the digital NFT and physical versions of the comic are being made available together? (buy a comic NFT, claim a physical comic copy)

Sean O’Hare: I think it will be extremely exciting. Especially if they release extremely rare variants that are exclusive to the digital space.  That will turn a lot of heads and get people excited for both physical and digital formats.

VeVe is doing this for previous comics as well, releasing licensed Marvel NFT comics of grails like Fantastic Four #1  and Marvel Comics #1.

Those are incredibly scarce in the physical world.

Spencer Vogel: So Jose Delbo will actually be releasing a comic book in the coming months for his original character Satoshi the Creator. The NFT comics will be AR-enabled and there will also be physicals printed to complement the NFTs.

Sean O’Hare: People are LOVING it and these NFTs (based on the variant and mint number) are incredibly valuable

Question 6 (@Barcell1): What are the advantages and disadvantages that you see in NFT comics compared to physical ones?

Sean O’Hare: The advantage is accessibility, you can buy the comic anytime and anywhere, plus you don’t have to worry about the condition.

The disadvantage is that people love holding comics in their hands, so it takes away from the authenticity, but it’ll be fun to see how AR changes all of that.

Question 7 (@OTEE): Do you think Incentives could be added to comic NFT to increase the interest of people? If yes what do you think it should be?

Spencer Vogel: For sure! Incentives could include things like exclusive variant covers, augmented and virtual reality enablement, access to experiences, the ability to assign digital signatures from artists, etc.

Sean O’Hare: Yeah having artists being able to sign your NFT online is going to be HUGE.

Spencer Vogel: Or sign them “digitally” in person at comic cons!
