This partnership adds even more visibility to the Mogul ecosystem and highlights our commitment to engaging with audiences through diverse media platforms.

City of Dreams Success Continues

City of Dreams continues to make waves, and we’re thrilled to share that it is now available for streaming on-demand through Amazon. This means even more exposure for this groundbreaking project, as it touches new audiences around the world. The impact of this film is undeniable, and we are proud to see it reaching new heights.

No Child In Chains collectibles remain available with a portion of money raised going towards non-profit A21, whose efforts combat human trafficking worldwide. Once we sell out, we’ll be able to release additional campaign initiatives. Remember your support creates more opportunities.

Robert Bronzi and Rampage Jackson Confirmed for The Caretaker

Robert Bronzi (Death Kiss, The Gardener) and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (UFC champion, The A-Team) will lead an exciting cast in the Jeff Miller and Mogul produced action thriller feature, The Caretaker, which will begin shooting towards the end of 2024.

Directed by Fady Jeanbart and written by Joe Knetter (based on a story by Miller), The Caretaker looks to deliver what all good, straightforward action films deliver on: Good guys you love to root for and bad guys you love to root against.

In The Caretaker, a beautiful young woman with a past, Gina (Avaryana Rose, over 1m social media followers), finds herself in a ghost town tourist attraction closed for the offseason and crosses paths with the reclusive caretaker (Bronzi), who holds secrets of his own. The caretaker finds himself compelled to protect Gina against the various goons a ruthless crime boss has sent after her.

“Rampage” Jackson will play a sidekick to Bronzi’s character.  Other name actors will be announced soon.

The Caretaker, like most Bronzi films, will surely be the kind of film all action movie fans can enjoy. Beyond that, the film offers a wide range of fun and immersive opportunities for those who support the Mogul led film campaign, which will launch in Fall 2024.

“Fans of Bronzi and ‘Rampage,’ and action and fight fans in general, will get a kick out of The Caretaker,” says co-writer and producer Miller.  “We look forward to working with Mogul on what we know will be an exciting campaign and experience, and we can’t wait to show more of what we have in store!”

With The Caretaker shooting late 2024, a Spring/Summer 2025 release is expected.

TIFF Awards and Wrap up 2024

Mike Flanagan’s The Life of Chuck took home the prestigious People’s Choice Award at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The film, based on a Stephen King novella, features an impressive cast including Tom Hiddleston, Mark Hamill, Karen Gillan, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. It made its world premiere at the festival and is a genre-blending story about finding hope amidst tragedy. Flanagan expressed his gratitude, stating, “I’m absolutely overwhelmed. We’re so grateful that The Life of Chuck connected with audiences in such a powerful way, but never expected this.”

“The TIFF People’s Choice Award is often seen as a predictor of future success during awards season with past winners like Room, La La Land, 12 Years a Slave, and Nomadland going on to claim Oscars,” said James Pratt, Head of Film Production at Mogul Productions

In the documentary category, the People’s Choice Award went to The Tragically Hip: No Dress Rehearsal, directed by Mike Downie, and produced by Prime Video and MGM Amazon Studios. The runners-up included Will & Harper, a road trip comedy starring Will Ferrell and Harper Steele, which debuted at Sundance and is set for Netflix, as well as Your Tomorrow, a film by Ali Weinstein about Toronto’s Ontario Place.

In the Midnight Madness category, The Substance, directed by Coralie Fargeat, won the audience award. The film, which premiered in Cannes, stars Demi Moore as a fading actress clashing with a younger version of herself, portrayed by Margaret Qualley. The runners-up were Dead Talents Society by John Hsu, and Andrew DeYoung’s Friendship, both of which premiered at TIFF.

TIFF attendees vote for the People’s Choice Awards, and this year’s festival, which mixed potential Oscar contenders with arthouse films, saw a return of Hollywood stars after a subdued 2023. However, compared to other festivals like Venice and Cannes, the glamour was dialed back, with no official press conferences for films in the running for major awards like the Oscars and Golden Globes.

Other notable awards included the Platform Prize, which went to They Will Be Dust by Spanish filmmaker Carlos Marques-Marcet, a thought-provoking drama about euthanasia. Marques-Marcet used his acceptance speech to thank right-to-die activists and promote open dialogue about the controversial topic.

The FIPRESCI prize was awarded to Mother Mother by Somali-Canadian director K’naan Warsame, while The Last of the Sea Women, a documentary produced by Malala Yousafzai and directed by Sue Kim, won the NETPAC award for best Asian film from a first or second time director.

“TIFF is always seen as one of the elite film markets each year for Hollywood, so anytime someone wins here it’s a major achievement,” said Mogul Productions Head of Development Randy Charach.

Venice Film Festival 2024: Mogul Productions Discuss Key Highlights and Emerging Trends

The 2024 Venice Film Festival has concluded, showcasing a compelling mix of cinematic innovations and industry shifts. As the festival wraps up, Mogul Productions Head of Development, Randy Charach, Head of Film Production James Pratt, and CEO Matt Gigault share their insights from this year’s La Biennale.

1. Almodóvar’s Landmark Victory

Pedro Almodóvar has achieved a career milestone with his film The Room Next Door, which won the Golden Lion. The film, featuring Tilda Swinton as a dying war photographer who chooses euthanasia, received mixed reviews but has generated significant buzz in awards circuits. With Sony Pictures Classics on board, the film is now a serious Oscar contender.

2. TV’s Growing Influence at Film Festivals
The lines between television and cinema continue to blur. Alfonso Cuarón’s Disclaimer, a limited series starring Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline, was treated with the same importance as a major film premiere.

Mogul Head of Development, Randy Charach, noted, “The quality of TV keeps getting better. Ten years ago, TV actors were considered less appealing due to lower budgets. Today, we see film actors actively seeking TV roles, reflecting the medium’s rising prestige.”

3. Venice’s Self-Referential Trend

This year’s festival highlighted a curious trend: several films referenced Venice within their narratives. From Angelina Jolie’s character in Maria reminiscing about the city to The Brutalist incorporating local scenery, Venice itself became a thematic element. This self-referential approach underscores the city’s unique position in the cinematic world.

4. Changes in Festival Press and Promotion
The traditional press junket model was less prominent this year, with major films like The Brutalist and The Order receiving minimal media exposure. Instead, the festival focused on high-profile premieres and international media coverage.

James Pratt Head of Film Production at Mogul Productions observed, “We saw this shift at other major festivals earlier this year as well. As international film audiences grow, promotion is increasingly geared
toward a broader audience rather than just one region.”

5. Awards Buzz and Oscar Contenders

Venice set the stage for the awards season, though its impact on the Oscars remains nuanced. The festival highlighted several Best Actress contenders, such as Angelina Jolie and Nicole Kidman, but did not produce clear Best Picture frontrunners. The unexpected acclaim for The Brutalist suggests it could become a serious Oscar contender, despite its lengthy runtime.

6. The Return of Explicit Content

Venice reintroduced explicit content to the big screen with films like Luca Guadagnino’s Queer and Halina Reijn’s Babygirl. These films featured provocative scenes, igniting discussions about the role of sexuality in cinema.

“The R-rated audience has always been there as it’s one of the most lucrative audiences, however of recent studios have been reluctant to take too much riss due to the cancel culture push and political climate, Gigault remarked. “However, with successes like Deadpool and Wolverine smashing box office records in 2024, we’re seeing a surge in explicit content both in action and more provocative films.”

7. The Lengthy Film Trend

Long runtimes were notable at Venice, with several films, including Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist, extending beyond two hours. This trend raises questions about audience tolerance for extended cinematic experiences and reflects an ongoing debate about balancing artistic ambition with viewer engagement.

8. Shifts in Distribution Practices

The distribution landscape has evolved, with major deals for films like Maria and Queer secured before the festival began. High-profile acquisitions now occur more strategically, reflecting a shift away from the traditional festival frenzy for instant deals. This change indicates a more measured approach to film distribution and promotion in today’s market.

Mogul Monthly Wrap August 2024: Mogul Up

August 2024 will go down as the start of when we began to Mogul Up. It was a critical month that served as the official launch of the 2024 campaign road map, with City of Dreams launching its No Child In Chains collectible on Mogul’s platform.

Having released in theaters worldwide on August 30th, City of Dreams proved the Mogul model after years of measured effort. The film went from script to screen after an initial early investment helped fulfill the vision the City of Dreams team had, culminating in the gripping thriller currently raising awareness about child slavery in theaters around the world.

But City of Dreams isn’t just about making a movie—it’s about making a difference. As part of efforts to go beyond raising awareness, City of Dreams announced a strategic partnership with A21, a non profit organization whose work helps combat human trafficking.

With No Child In Chains serving as phase one of the City of Dreams campaign, Mogul is grateful to be involved in raising money for an organization like A21 and any other philanthropic partners who join this important effort.

As it relates to partnerships, Mogul remains committed to expanding its reach via collaborations across both the Web3 and entertainment worlds.

August was a month that saw a handful of new partners announced, with HeLa Labs being the one Mogul closed the month out with.

The partnership will introduce Mogul Productions to HeLa’s user base of its fiat-backed layer 1 blockchain. Known for its modularity and flexibility, HeLa’s platform streamlines the process for companies eager to innovate.

As September unfolds, expect even more thrilling announcements and campaign launches.

Mogul’s first campaign in the coming month also happens to be the first music project on the platform. Bahamian rapper, Rello Ranzano will be bringing his music to the blockchain with his upcoming album, Can’t Escape The Allure.

Coming off an August 31st performance in Nassau opening for Lil Durk, Ranzano is making sure he comes correct for Mogul’s first ever music focused campaign.

While the Can’t Escape The Allure campaign details can be found here, the first phase of the campaign will be the release of the single, “Fever”, alongside five exclusive opportunities to become a producer of the album.

Those who purchase a Producer mint, will not only be listed as a producer on Can’t Escape The Allure, they’ll also get everything from the other campaign packages. Obviously that includes a deluxe version of the album, with tracks only available via Mogul.

Beyond new ground being paved with Mogul’s expansion into music, September will also see the delivery of the campaign for the action thriller, Clutch, as well as the launch of the campaign for the samurai epic, Lady Samurai.

It’s only up from here, and there’s still a lot to deliver for 2024, which ends in a few short months. So let’s make sure we Mogul Up together and push into 2025 with proper momentum.

City of Dreams In Theaters Worldwide Today

After years of development and hard work, today City of Dreams, written and directed by Mohit Ramchandani, makes its way into theaters worldwide.

Mogul Productions can’t help but feel like a proud parent given that we were an early investor in the film at a point when it was going by its working title, Dreamer, and had yet to become more than just an ambitious vision and script.

With a plot inspired by a real world problem, City of Dreams uses the power of film to tell the story of a young boy who is tricked into coming to the U.S. to pursue his dream of becoming a soccer star, only to find himself trafficked and forced to work in a Los Angeles sweatshop.

Child labor trafficking is a serious issue that impacts millions of children annually across the globe. City of Dreams helps to shine a light on the issue via this powerful thriller featuring a career defining performance from up and coming actor, Ari Lopez.

Additionally, the team involved with City of Dreams has partnered with A21, which is a charity focused on fighting human trafficking. More details on that partnership can be found on the City of Dreams Resources page or on A21’s website.

With that said, grab your tickets and check out City of Dreams, in theaters now.

Also make sure to take a photo of your ticket stub and join the Mogul Discord or Telegram in order to earn a free claim for a variant of the No Child In Chains collectible featuring artwork by Paul Gerben.

Those who purchase a No Child In Chains collectible also unlock a free claim for unique scene art from City of Dreams. Each Dreamer collectible has different rarities that will allow owners to accumulate Mogul Empire points as well.
